GCD Studios Technique:: Creating with Glitter!

One of my favorite mediums to work with is glitter (much to the chagrin of my husband who usually shows up at work with a glittery forehead when I've brought out the glitter!) :) For my "Thanksgiving Traditions" layout, I coordinated my glitter colors to add a pop of color among my black and white photos. My photos of the girls' 1st Thanksgiving had a lot of distracting colors so I turned them all black and white and used rich, fall colors in my embellishments and papers. Today, I'm going to share an easy way to add color and texture to your projects by using glitter.

First, let's take a peek at my layout using beautiful embellishments and papers from the Artsy Urban and Independence collections.

Here's a close-up of my title using a rub-on and rhinestone by Melissa Frances.

The butterfly transparency is from Artsy Urban.

I layered and clustered patterned paper, a border strip, bird transparency, crochet flower and button.

I used Helmar Zap Dots for the centers of my photos and glitter from Martha Stewart in garnet, brownstone, lapis and verdelite.

I peeled off the dot from the sheet and turned it over so the sticky side was down. I took off the protective sheet and then sprinkled the dot liberally with glitter and shook off the excess.

Because I used my dots in the center of photographs, I did not glitter them in place but used a plastic lid to catch all the excess glitter especially since I didn't want the colors mixing. Then, I placed the dot between my photos.

The end result is a rich pop of glittery color.

Until next time,
Jill
